Come hear the fascinating stories of entrepreneurs representing two ends of the entrepreneurial spectrum: Tami Lige is in the early years of her Much obLIGEd Lawn and Landscaping business, after many years in higher education. Tami said she was only a dissertation away from a doctor’s degree. Larry Ryan founded Ryan Lawn & Tree 39 years ago and has grown it from a small beginning in the Kansas City area to a multi-city (Omaha, Wichita, Springfield, Tulsa & St Louis), employed-owned enterprise that most of us recognize because of their “clean red trucks” in our neighborhoods. Feb 26    2026 February Membership Luncheon: FIFA World Cup 2026

“Everything businesses need to know about preparing for World Cup activities in Kansas City.”

The program for this luncheon is an opportunity to get the most recent information about how the World Cup in Kansas City in June and July will impact businesses of North Kansas City. You will also learn more about all the preparation that has been going on by the KC 2026 organization for the entire metro KC area and by the Clay and Platte County Tourism organizations in creating the new joint tourism website GoNorthKC.com. You will also learn about the “watch party” scheduled for downtown North Kansas City the afternoon and evening of the July 11th quarter final game in Kansas City. With any luck we may be able to learn which countries have chosen Kansas City to be their Base Camp for the entire tournament (at least as long as they are still in the competition) and what that will mean for how to prepare for the many visitors that will bring.

All of a sudden, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is getting lots of attention around Kansas City with the news that 3 of the top 4 world class soccer country teams (Argentina #2, England #4 and Netherlands #7) plus #28 Algeria are going to have their “base camps” for several weeks in the Kansas City area. One of them will be at the nearby KC Current training facility in Riverside. Come to this luncheon to learn “Everything businesses need to know about preparing for World Cup activities in Kansas City”.

The program will feature a representative from the KC 2026 staff that has been preparing for this for the past 2 years; Clay County Tourism and Marketing Manager Megan Sahlfeld to talk about the new Go North KC marketing initiative that will be boosting businesses in the Northland (Clay and Platte Counties). Also speaking is Kim Nakahodo to tell us about the big “watch party” in downtown North Kansas City (blocked off streets at Armour and Swift) on Saturday evening, July 11, corresponding with the quarter final match at Arrowhead (aka Kansas City) Stadium.
